Visit-kendal.co.uk is the destination website for the town and promotes Kendal’s distinctive offer to visitors and local people. It provides a ‘one-stop-shop’ for information about the town, including its retail, arts, culture and leisure offer, events and festivals and history and heritage. It also provides practical information to help visitors plan their visit, including information about travel, transport and loos. The website creates a great digital first impression of Kendal and aims to inspire more people to visit, dwell and spend time and money in the town.
The website is currently funded by Kendal Town Council who support the ongoing content management, maintenance and hosting costs.
A social media wall collates the Twitter posts of local people using #kendal and a business directory will enables website visitors to search for Kendal’s shops, cafes, restaurants and accommodation providers as well as events and festivals via the calendar pages.
Launched in 2016, its development was led by Kendal Futures in partnership with the project’s then funders Kendal Town Council, Kendal Business Improvement District and South Lakeland District Council. Visit-kendal.co.uk was designed and developed by local firm Cactus Creative.
The website links to Kendal Town Council’ visitor leaflet series which showcases the town’s award winning cultural attractions, fantastic businesses and beautiful green spaces.
